Anti-Ragging Committee

At CTIHM Shahpur, we maintain a strict stance against ragging and take pride in our ragging-free campus. Our students are thoroughly educated on the regulations, ensuring a culture free from such practices. To enforce this, we have established an Anti-Ragging Committee dedicated to the prohibition, prevention, and eradication of ragging incidents. To ensure adherence to the UGC Regulations aimed at curbing the menace of ragging in higher educational institutions, 2009, the Anti-Ragging Committee is appointed and overseen by the principal. This committee is composed of members specified by the UGC Regulations, including representatives from civil and police administration, local media, Non-Governmental Organizations engaged in youth activities, and delegates from the institute.

A. The committee will ensure strict adherence to the Anti-Ragging regulations, overseeing the implementation of the Anti-Ragging Policy in line with the guidelines set forth by the Government/University Grants Commission (UGC). These guidelines, notified under Section 26(1) (g) of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, are rigorously enforced at CTIHM, Shahpur, to combat the menace of ragging effectively. Additionally, the committee will monitor and supervise the Anti-Ragging Squad's efforts in preventing ragging incidents on campus. As per the directive from the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, ragging encompasses one or a combination of acts that may result in physical, emotional, social, intellectual, or psychological harm, or in still fear or apprehension in a fresher or junior student. • Requesting a student to perform an action outside their usual course of conduct, resulting in feelings of shame, torment, or embarrassment, thereby adversely impacting the physical or mental well-being of a fresher or any other student, is considered ragging.
  • Any action by a senior student that hampers, interrupts, or disrupts the regular academic pursuits of another student or a fresher constitutes ragging.
  • Utilizing the assistance of a fresher or any other student to fulfil academic responsibilities assigned to an individual or group of students is also classified as ragging.
  • Refraim from subjecting new or other students to financial extortion or undue financial burden.
  • Any instance of physical harm, encompassing all forms such as sexual abuse, assaults based on sexual orientation, stripping, coercion into obscene or lewd actions or gestures, inflicting bodily harm, or posing any other threat to health or well-being.
  • Any form of verbal or written abuse, including through spoken words, emails, posts, or public insults, which involves deriving perverse satisfaction, vicarious enjoyment, or sadistic pleasure from actively or passively contributing to the discomfort of freshmen or any other student.
  • Any action that impacts the mental well-being and self-assurance of a freshman or any other student, whether intentional or not, with the aim of deriving sadistic pleasure or asserting dominance, authority, or superiority by one student over another.
  • In the event of an emergency, students or parents experiencing distress due to ragging can reach out to the National Anti-Ragging Helpline at 1800-180-5522 (Toll Free), visit the website www.antiragging.in, contact via email at info@amanmovement.org, or call the mobile numbers 09871170303 and 09818400116 (reserved for emergencies only)
